Many people think porcelain veneers are purely cosmetic, but they can also play an important role in improving function and correcting bite issues. In this video, Dr. Mac explains a unique case where porcelain veneers were used to help correct a patient’s open bite. An open bite occurs when the upper and lower teeth do not properly touch, especially in the back of the mouth. This patient had already undergone jaw surgery and two rounds of orthodontic treatment, yet the bite still was not functioning ideally. By carefully designing and placing porcelain veneers in a non traditional way, we were able to improve the patient’s bite, create better tooth contact, and restore both function and aesthetics. This case highlights how advanced cosmetic dentistry can sometimes be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan to improve oral health, bite stability, and long term outcomes.
