Why Not All Veneers Can Be Prepless

Digital Smile Design with Exocad

In this lecture clip, Dr. Mac demonstrates how digital smile design can help determine whether a patient is a candidate for prepless porcelain veneers. Using Exocad design software, the proposed veneer design is digitally overlaid onto the patient’s existing teeth. This allows the dentist to visualize the final tooth position and evaluate whether veneers can be placed without removing enamel, or if minimal tooth preparation will be required. While prepless veneers are a great option for some patients, they are not appropriate for every case. Digital treatment planning helps dentists maintain ideal tooth proportions, proper alignment, and a natural looking result while preserving as much enamel as possible. This clip is part of a lecture where Dr. Mac teaches dental students about veneer treatment planning, digital dentistry, and using smile design software to guide conservative cosmetic dentistry decisions.
